DAT instruments dataloggers make the difference. No matter which is the brand of the drilling equipment, of the pump, of the hydromill, of the crane. No matter its dimensions, the date of manufacturing and the technology used. With a competitive price, even the oldest equipment can obtain new and modern functions.

A perfect interface

Dataloggers produced by DAT instruments can be installed on equipment of any age and dimension. Usually used on equipment such as:

– piston pump, helicoidal gear pump and turbine pump for cement injections, sleeved grouting pipes, injections with packer (TAM grouting);
– gear pump for Lugeon test;
– crane with hydraulic or electric vibrator for vibroflotation;
– drilling machine for drilling or for DAC test, jet grouting, soil mixing, CFA;
– mechanical or hydraulic crane with grab for diaphragm wall (dWalls);
– hydromill

The datalogger and the mechanical equipment are two independent systems, which are working in parallel. DAT instruments designs sensors in order to be able to interface with any equipment. For this reason, the datalogger matches the system and not the contrary. The brand too is not a fundamental factor. DAT instruments dataloggers can be adaptable to any kind of geotechnical equipment for soil consolidation or special foundation, of any model and of any brand.

 

Advantages

Any equipment, even the oldest one, with a DAT instruments datalogger can obtain different kind of automatisms. An example of this has occurred in Turin (North of Italy) while building a new metro line. Datalogger has been installed on sleeved grouting pipes (TAM grouting) pumps letting executing four pipes at the same time. Another example has occurred in the Ivory Coast with CFA equipment.

For any kind of work

With the DAT instruments datalogger it has been possible to control and establish the rod rise speed thanks to solenoid valves already present on the drilling equipment. In case of jet grouting it is possible to obtain perfect steps in time and centimetres. This is what happened in Turkey and in Singapore working with very old equipment.

These functionalities let the company be able to have detailed reports, in any kind of work, which can be directly given to the Construction Supervision. This means saving time and, therefore, saving money and knowing that a great job has been carried out.

In works such as sleeved grouting pipes, free injections, jet grouting or CFA, where automatisms are necessary, using a datalogger the operator only needs to set up pre-established parameters following the project lines. Everything else is carried out by the datalogger making the operator life easier. At the same time, the operator can always watch all parameters in real time through the datalogger display. In this way, even if there are no automatisms, the operator can regulate manually speed, pressure and everything else.

An equipment always ready to be used

“Just installing a DAT instruments datalogger”, says Amedeo Valoroso, founder and owner of DAT instruments, “every equipment, even the oldest, can regain the same functions of a modern one. The datalogger records parameters and so it let certify the carried out work. In addition to that, on specific applications such as jet grouting and CFA, the datalogger let automate the process even using a very old drilling equipment. With a low cost, it is possible to obtain the best result”.

The new generation of DAT instruments touch screen dataloggers, such as the new DAT WideLog, display data and graphics directly on the wide and coloured monitor. In addition to that, it is possible to download and display, in real time, all the works and to export data to Microsoft Excel or Openoffice Calc. It is also possible to watch data online even on mobile devices such as tablet or smartphone.

DAT instruments JET SDP / IB dataloggers on the field for an ordnance clearance.

When high performing instruments are needed, drilling companies ask for DAT instruments dataloggers. Two JET SDP / IB, installed on two drilling machines (a Casagrande C6 and an Atlas Copco Mustang), are working in the Taranto port.

The field

These two drilling machines are working in the former Yard-Belleli zone inside the multifunctional Taranto port and where, under the direction of Astaldi SpA, an ordnance clearance is carried out. This ordnance was connected to the presence of unexploded bombs and useful for the realization of diaphragm walls (dWalls) in order to stem pollution which in this zone is a huge problem. After these ordnance operations, a drainage of 15 mt in the seabed will be performed and a new quay (which is going to contain waste material) will be built.

dWalls

“Our two instruments”, Daniele Dal Boni, specialized technician of DAT instruments, explains us “are installed on a Casagrande C6 and an Atlas Copco Mustang. These drilling rigs need to realize drills of 20-30 mt depth in which plastic pipes are going to be positioned in order to insert GPR (Ground Penetrating Radar) to find any possible explosive remnant. JET SDP / IB datalogger diagraphies will be useful to know if it is possible to realize dWalls and to decide which technology it is better to carry out. Engineers have two choices: CSM (Cutting Soil Mixing) or dWalls using the classic grab on the digging equipment. Obviously, as it is an ordnance clearance, CSM will be the best choice but it depends on ground conditions”. DAT instruments datalogger, demanded by the Supervisors of the Works, gives the opportunity to know the real structure of the ground layer. In this case, it is fundamental as the work is carried out with not perfectly known materials.

A market recovery

Taranto field is part of an Italian market that, after some suffering years, is coming out of the crisis. This is the comment of Amedeo Valoroso, founder and owner of DAT instruments. “Italian field had a particular crisis in the last years. We noticed it as our products, in those years, were installed in a high percentage in export markets. In facts, DAT instruments dataloggers are designed for big public works and unfortunately in our Country, Italy, these works have been blocked for years. This situation caused bankruptcy for many Italian companies; this means loss of jobs and know how. Now, finally, there is an increase in maintenance and public works and we constantly receive demands from Italian companies.”.

Now it is time to focus on the JET SDP / IB datalogger.

JET SDP / IB

Thanks to DAT instruments datalogger, it is possible to understand the geomechanical characteristics of soil measuring drilling parameters in real time. In particular, diagraphy in function of depth underlines the position of each stratigraphic level. JET SDP / IB let display, on datalogger LCD, instantaneous values in function of depth and data transfer to PC in order to file, export and print detailed reports.

JET DEPTH by DAT instruments

Via proper sensors, this instrument let measure and record the following selectable parameters:

  • drill depth (JET DEPTH)
  • feed force (JET FORCE)
  • translation rod speed (JET DEPTH)
  • boring rod rotation torque (JET TORQ)
  • boring rod rotation speed (JET ROT)
  • drilling fluid pressure (JET PRESS)
  • date and time of starting and finishing work, duration
  • soil related energy calculation.

For this kind of work, DAT instruments provides even the more sophisticated JET 4000 AME / J and the new DAT WideLog touch screen datalogger, both extendable with the following functions: jet grouting, soil mixing, CFA and vibroflotation.

Record, transfer, file

Amedeo Valoroso at Easy DAT presentation

Data acquired by the datalogger are recorded on the internal memories and can be transferred to PC with Easy DAT software via JET C USB cable, USB pendrive and even via WiFi Internet connection, Ethernet and 3G-4G. This software let organize data, process them, create graphics and print them. It is also available a function to export data to Microsoft Excel.

The JET SDP / J display produced by DAT instruments can display in real time on its monitor depth, translation rod speed and axes X and Y inclination for injected piles.

The JET SDP / J display produced by DAT instruments can display in real time on its monitor depth, translation rod speed and axes X and Y inclination for injected piles. For this reason, it has been required for the perfect execution of cement piles. The field is close to Caltanissetta, an important city in the island of Sicily, where piles with a diameter of 800-1200-1500 are going to be created for 7,590 m long and with a depth from 13.00 m to 52.00 m. ANAS (State Road Authority) has demanded this project in order to create a link between Caltanissetta and the Palermo-Catania highway.

As high precision works are required, JET SDP / J display has a fundamental role in this kind of execution. Max tolerance is 10 cm on depth and 0.03% on verticality.

JET SDP / J display has been installed on a MAIT HR130 in order to carry out the correct execution of piles concerning both depth and verticality.
